About Breckin

My beliefs:

I believe therapy is a space for you to gain insight into yourself and use that knowledge to make your life better. I specialize in supporting young adults through life transitions—whether it be college, identity exploration, relationship changes, or stepping into independence. I am especially passionate about working with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC clients and strive to create a space where you feel empowered, seen, safe, and affirmed. I have experience treating clients who are navigating depression, anxiety, life transitions, identity development, women’s issues, and family issues. I believe that therapy offers a unique space for you to explore yourself while learning skills and tools to improve whatever you might be struggling with day-to-day.

I believe an impactful therapist is someone who creates a safe and empowering space for you to learn about yourself and equips you with tools and knowledge to manage what life throws at you.

My Experience:

I graduated from Northwestern University with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As part of my clinical training, I completed my internship with Andrea La Barre. I shadowed her for nearly 2 years and developed a deep understanding of clinical therapy. During this time, I facilitated sessions in tandem with Andrea working with a diverse set of clients, older adults, young children, couples, co-parents, etc.

Outside of therapy-

I have a passion for social justice and have spent much of my life prior to becoming a therapist working with underserved communities to provide resources and support. I bring this experience with me into my career as a Mental Health Therapist. Before completing graduate school, I worked with 3 nonprofit organizations in the western and central areas of Wisconsin for about 4 years. In these roles, I gathered a wealth of knowledge and witnessed firsthand how issues with larger social systems can impact the mental health of everyone in our community. My efforts were focused mainly on connecting at-risk youth with resources and empowering young adults. I am currently working with a Wisconsin-based organization providing outpatient mental health therapy to children in Oshkosh. T I started my private practice in Neenah in 2018 and have been here ever since.

A Little Bit About Me:

I grew up in the Fox Valley area and graduated from Neenah High School. I moved to La Crosse for college and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UW-La Crosse before moving back to Appleton, completing my master’s degree and building my practice.

In my free time, I am usually with my family, watching nostalgic movies, creating art, and/or trying to keep my plants alive.

If you’re curious about therapy or wondering if we’re a good fit, feel free to reach out by email or phone to schedule a consultation. I’m happy to answer your questions and help you understand more about the process.
